What is a travel agency without a transport department? In 2009, Sea Wheel Travel’s transportation which was outsourced to various operators over whom there was little control, was re-organised. The agency decided to set up their own Transport Department and purchased their first 45-seater coach. Currently, Sea Wheel Travel commands a fleet of 40 coaches, mini buses and combis, equipped with GPS tracking and real-time camera for the safety of passengers and timeliness of service.

These fully-paid for vehicles — average age four years — which run throughout Singapore and the entire West Malaysia are kept in tip top condition with rigorous service maintenance, and re-upholstered and re-painted every three years. All drivers have vast experience at the wheel and a sound knowledge of the routes to further ensure passenger-safety, which is the top-most priority for Sea Wheel Travel.

While Jeremy is in the driver’s seat for day-to-day management focussed on leveraging the latest technology to propel Sea Wheel Travel to even greater heights, his mum Helen, is in the office daily with detailed eyes, even as she prepares to pass on the baton to him eventually. She is Executive Chairman while Mr Ng Senior is Chairman. Together, the trio are further entrenching their brand and logo – represented by a rudder, which was inspired by its pre-Agency days of arranging cruises to Batam – by skilful marketing and making inroads into Asia as far away as Istanbul (Turkey) as the gateway to Europe and the Middle East.

Jeremy says: “With our company’s three decades of experience and the ubiquitous internet, we must strive to be ever-present everywhere. My aim is to make Sea Wheel Travels a DMC (Destination Marketing Company) for Asia within five years”.

And that may not be a lofty idea for a smart, tireless Managing Director like Jeremy who aims to show his gratitude for his parents’ hard work by building on their legacy with tenacity.
